We are very excited to announce the launch of our latest Kickstarter campaign for the unique card-based storygame Women are Werewolves.
In Women are Werewolves, players take on the roles of nonbinary characters who belong to a family in which only the women transform into werewolves. Throughout the game, characters explore their relationships to gendered spaces and family customs. They also explore their relationships with their queer and non-queer family members.

At its heart, Women are Werewolves is a game about discovering your boundaries and whether you can find, or make, a space for your authentic self within a family that might not understand you. Beyond the gendered traditions of your imagined family, the rest of the story is up to you. Players choose if their characters transform, and each group will develop a unique lore surrounding the meaning and causes of transformation. As players answer card-based prompts, a unique collaborative story unfolds according to the needs and interests of each player group. While this is a queer game about being nonbinary, anyone interested in storytelling surrounding themes of gender, queerness, and family is warmly invited to play.

Created by nonbinary designers Yeonsoo Julian Kim and C.A.S. Taylor, the game’s production and marketing team also has two nonbinary members—Adriel Lee Wilson and Nat Mesnard. This team is passionately committed to bringing this powerful storytelling experience to players and retailers with an interest in exploring queer games.
Stretch goals will be announced as the campaign progresses. At the Fashion Werewolf level and above, backers will receive a custom-designed Women are Werewolves T-shirt.

9th Level Games has partnered with Transfigure Print Co for these shirts. They are a Michigan-based, LGBTQIA+ inclusive, trans and queer owned screen-printing company who has raised funds for regional LGBTQ+ centers and educators such as the Grand Rapids Trans Foundation and Stand With Trans MI.
